These Remington S9951 Hairstyling Iron are my new best friend. I used to have big frizzy hair until these arrived in the post. The ceramic plates of are infused with frizz-resistant micro conditioners, and after 20 minutes of use my hair was totally transformed from frizzy hair to silky, straight hair. What a dream!
These straighteners use anti-frizz technology. I’m not totally sure how it works, but work it does and that’s all I need to know! The iron also gives humidity protection which lasts an entire day – so at the end of a day at work, I come home and my hair is still straight and has hardly any frizz. They claim to take away 65 percent of the frizz and I’d say that’s probably a little modest. Since I’ve been using these straighteners my hair actually looks healthier as well.
This straightener heats up in no time at all. The maximum temperature is 430 degrees and in about 30 seconds it’s heated up to the max. Because the straighteners heat up fast and to a high temperature it doesn’t take very long to straighten your hair. And as the plates are ceramic, the heat is evenly distributed so you don’t have to keep going over one bit of hair fine tuning the one section that’s not as straight as the rest.
One of the selling factors of this hair straightener was the four year warranty it comes with. Other straighteners I’ve had have usually come with a one or two year warranty and it’s usually just after the warranty has run out that the straighteners stop working. So with the 4 year warranty I have peace of mind.

I first read about this flat iron in Good Housekeeping magazine. They claimed that it performed at 100% in all of their testing. They put hair samples in a humidity controlled room for 15 hours and measured the frizz among samples treated with frizz serum and a regular flat iron and this iron with no product. This product by itself won by far. That was quite impressive so I decided to give it a try.
First, let me say that I have very fine textured hair that is a little below my shoulders so it is pretty easy to straighten with any flat iron. My trouble has been that after an hour (even with product & hairspray) it will become wavy again. There was definitely a noticeable difference using this tool. My hair did not frizz and stayed much straighter for a longer period of time.
Also worth noting, it heats up in about 60 seconds and beeps to let you know it has reached the desired setting. You have to hold the power button down for a few seconds to turn it off which is helpful because I was always accidentally hitting it while straightening my hair on my old iron. Another plus is that the heating plate rocks so that you don’t snag pieces of your hair.

My frizzies were so bad that I was considering chemical relaxing again after growing my hair back to natural over the last two years. Maybe my 4 year old, very expensive, flat iron wasn’t heating up enough any more. It wasn’t doing the job. The Remington S9951 straightens my hair in 1/4 the time and my hair stays straighter and less frizzy much longer. I can wear my hair down again if I want instead of pony tails and buns every day.
